We are going to a concert on Wednesday, and we have a class party on Thursday. We are doing a desk clean out on Friday, so students should bring a large bag to bring some belongings home.
I will post an overview of what to expect for third term near the end of spring break. French
Poems will be presented on Wednesday. Social Studies Presentations will be on Thursday. Other Please hand in the permission form for the concert (Gregg Lerock next Weds) and the film (La Course des Tuques) as soon as possible with the payment. French
Students will finish up the art portion of their poem and practice reciting it this week. Presentations will be next week. English Lit circle package is due on Friday (28th). Students will have time in class to work on it. Social studies Students will get time to work on their action plan presentation this week. Presentations will be next week. Science There will be a quiz on the rock cycle on March 2nd. Students also have another option for a paragraph, which will be offered to them on the 26th and will be due on March 2nd as well. Math Quizzes will be handed back this week, and corrections will be due on Friday. Other We will be going to a French concert on March 11th. Forms will be handed out this week, so please submit payment and forms ASAP. English
Students will finish their week 6 literature circle discussions this week. They will be given time next week to finish the work in the packages, which will be due at the end of next week. French The version of the spring poem to be typed up is to be completed on the 18th. Presentations will be next week. Social Studies Research is to be done on the 18th. Presentations will be next week as well. Math Division quiz is on the 21st. Other Diversity week presentations are the 19th and 20th. All students must have their 3 objects on the 20th. English
Students will be continuing their week 5/6 literature circle activities. French Students will be wrapping up the rough copy of their spring poems and typing them out. I will print them and then they will be drawing the content of their poems. They will practice reading it and then presentations will be late next week or the week after. Math The division quiz will be on the 21st. Social Studies Students will wrap up their action plan planning this week and start working on their presentations. The presentations will most likely be on the week of the 24th. Science We will continue our unit on the rock cycle. There won't be a major project. The final assessment may be a quiz or a short research paragraph. This will be decided on soon. Other We will be participating in Identity Day, and students will do a show-and-tell presentation on the 19th and 20th. Students will bring in 3 items that can fit in a bag, and they will tell the class how these items represent them. They can create a Powerpoint, but it is not required. Students should also be doing their climate change package at home online or on paper. English
The song analysis will be due on Tuesday. They should be working on their week 4/5 assignments in their literature circle package. French The draft copy of the poem is to be done by Thursday. The next step will be to type it into a word processor and print it. This will be done at school. Math We will be learning division next. The quiz is on Feb 21st. Social Studies The research and planning is to be finished by Thursday. Students will create their presentation next. Science We will be continuing our unit on the rock cycle. English
Students will bring in 3 school-appropriate songs to analyze. No due date has been set, but it should be close to early next week. Students will continue their literature circle assignments for week 3. Social Studies The action plan project will be introduced to them. There are 2 stages to it: the research and the presentation. The due date for the research portion will be decided this week, and it should be mid to late next week. Presentations will be closer to the end of February. French We will learn how to structure a poem. They will be combining the passé composé, comma usage, spring vocabulary and poem structure for their upcoming spring poem assignment. We will also learn how to use passe composé with être as the auxiliary concurrently. Math There will be a multiplication quiz this Friday. There will be a division quiz on Feb 21st. Science We will be starting the rock cycle very soon, possibly this week. There will not be a major project in this unit. Other We will have a presenter on Monday who will talk about climate change. Over the next 4 weeks, students will do things at home to try to reduce greenhouse gas emission. French
There will be a quiz on Thursday on passé composé with regular/irregular verbs and commas. Students will have to come up with 5 sentences that demonstrate their understanding of both of these concepts. English Students will be working on week 2/3 material for their literature circles. We will start looking at analyzing metaphors and similes in songs this week as well. Social Studies Students will be introduced to their natural resources project this week. It will be an action plan about a climate issue in Canada. More details will be given soon. Math We will be working on multiplication this week. |
